The Academic Library Group of the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) (2026/27) successfully organized a workshop on “Digital Stocktaking and Collection Assessment Using SLASA” on 18 August 2026 at the BCIS Library.
The opening session was attended by Mr. Sugath Gunathilaka, President of the Sri Lanka Library Association, and Ms. Priyanthi Fernando, Executive Director of BCIS.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Harsha Balasooriya, Senior Assistant Librarian (Systems), The Open University of Sri Lanka, who served as the resource person.
Nearly 60 library and information professionals representing academic and other libraries across Sri Lanka participated in the programme. The workshop provided practical knowledge and hands-on guidance on conducting annual library stocktaking and collection assessment using the SLASA software, enabling participants to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of library collection management.
Beyond the technical sessions, the workshop also created a valuable platform for professional networking, knowledge sharing, and the exchange of best practices among library and information professionals.
