The Special Libraries Group of the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) successfully organized and participated in the Subharathi radio programme on “The Role of the National Library of Sri Lanka in the Sri Lankan Library Sector.”
The programme featured Mr. W. Sunil, Director General; Mrs. Senani Bandara, Director (Library Promotion, Standardization and Publications); and Dr. Padma Bandaranayake, Director, representing the National Library and Documentation Services Board. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Dinuka Gunawardana.
The discussion highlighted the significant role of the National Library and Documentation Services Board in the development of Sri Lanka’s library and information sector, with particular emphasis on library development, standardization, information access, and professional advancement.
Broadcast on the Sinhala National Service of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), the programme provided an important platform to raise public awareness of the services and contributions of the National Library of Sri Lanka.
