Call for Papers ICLIS 2020 Deadline extended

To mark the 60th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) in the year 2020, an International Conference on Library and Information Science (ICLIS 2020) is organized by the SLLA. ICLIS 2020 is a platform for sharing research findings and knowledge of library and information professionals from different sectors in Sri Lanka.  The theme of the conference is "Role of Libraries in Transforming Societies". SLLA cordially invites Professionals and researchers of library and information science to submit papers and attend the international conference which will be held on 25- June 2020.

Deadline for submission of papers on or before 31st March, 2020.

Online Training on "Google Work Space for Library Office Work"

The Academic Group of SLLA (2020/21) has organized an online training programme on “Google Workspace for library office work” for Library Information Assistants for free of charge. 

Date: 06th May 2021
Time: 10.00 AM to 12.00 NOON
Target group: University, School and Public, Library Information Assistants and other interested persons
Medium: Sinhala and Tamil (separate sessions will be conducted on the same day)

A special Seminar for the selection of University Courses

A special seminar for the selection of University courses in the maths stream for students who got through the G.C.E. A/L 2020 examination was held online on 05th June 2021. The resource person was Dr. Manjula Wickramasinghe of the Faculty of Technology, University of Wayamba. The seminar was organized by the Colombo Public Library, and the Sri Lanka Library Association. It was conducted on Zoom, and lived streamed on YouTube. The recording of the live stream is available at https://youtu.be/2KNaQmQKOGA


The University of Cape Town Library Fire: Statement of Support And Solidarity From the SLLA 

Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) was shocked to hear the loss of irreplaceable cultural heritage material by the University of Cape Town library, by wildfires spread on 18th April 2021.
 
We would like to express our deepest sympathy for the loss suffered by the University of Cape Town, South Africa and the people of the country. We stand in solidarity and support of the UCT community in this difficult moment. The loss of resources housed in the library will be felt by scholars around the world.
 
UCT library houses more than 1300 discrete archival collections of special significance. The damage from the fire has not yet been estimated, according to the sources.
