Course on Library Automation (COLA)
Certificate Course on Library Automation (COLA) is an esteemed course by the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA). SLLA conducts a library automation course to enhance librarians’ skills in utilizing Information Communication Technologies to disseminate and retrieve information. Course duration is 9 months. The core curricula include the usage of KOHA for database management in libraries.
Learning outcomes of the course:
- Describe, explain and use the knowledge of ICT applications in a library setting
- Design, host, and maintain a Website for the library
- Install Koha ILMS and create an online catalogue.
The course covers the following areas in library automation:
- Introduction to Information Communication Technology (ICT)
- Introduction to library automation
- Library Automation with Koha integrated library management system
- Electronic library resources and Services,
- Web designing, hosting and maintenance.
