SLLA Golden Jubilee Jaffna Regional Seminar will be held at Jaffna Public Library Auditorium on 30th July 2010. The Mayor of the Jaffna Municipal Council and the Vice Chancellor of Jaffna University will be the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour respectively at the inauguration ceremony. 'Libraries; Access to Information and Empowering people' is the theme of the seminar.
Dr. N. Sivarajah, Consultant/Coordinator, WHO, Mr. S. Sivakumar, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Ms S. Mahesan, System Analyst, University of Jaffna, Ms. M. Vasantha Kumar, Regional ACLG, Jaffna, Mr. A. Anantharaj, Dept. of Education, Ms. K. Kamalambikai, Former Head, National Bibliography Division, NLDSB, Mr. S. Thanabalasingam, Librarian, Jaffna Public Library will be the resource persons of the seminar.
Mr Upali Amarasiri, President, Mr Preethi Liyanage, Chair, Regional Seminar Taskforce, Mr. G.K Padmasiri, Education Officer and Ms Ananda Thissa, Asst. Education Officer will represent the SLLA at the seminar. Mr. S. Thanabalasingam, Librarian, Jaffna Public Library and Ms Kalpana Chandrasekar, Senior Assistant Librarian, Jaffna University are the Co-ordinators of the regional seminar.
Mr Amarasiri will deliver a special lecture at the Jaffna University on the 29th July titled 'Access to Information on Sri Lankan Publications'. The lecture has been organized by the Jaffna Science Association.
