[1st update] The inaugural SLLA Golden Jubilee Regional Seminar will be held in the historic and scenic city of Kandy on 10th of June 2010. The SLLA in collaboration with the Central Province Library Services Board will be organizing the event. The Golden Jubilee Regional Seminar Taskforce is planning to conduct a series of seminars in different regions of the country as part of the SLLA Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The Golden Jubilee theme 'Libraries: Access to Information and Empowering People' will be the theme of the seminar series as well. The state of affairs of library services and access to information in different regions will be discussed at the proceedings. Ms Daya Ratnayake, Chairperson, Central Province Library Services Board and Ms ira Mudannayake, Senior Assistant Librarian, Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, act as the local coordinators of the seminar. The Taskforce is headed by Mr Preethi Liyanage, Librarian, Arthur C Clarke Centre, Katubedda.
