Category 1: SLLA Senior members who had been active participants of the Association prior to the SLLA Act No. 20 of 1974 was enacted, irrespective of their qualifications and the membership category will be eligible for Life Membership without a Membership Fee.
Category 2: SLLA Senior Members with 20 years of continuous membership after obtaining the SLLA Associateship will be eligible for Life Membership without a Membership Fee.
Category 3: SLLA members having 10 years of continuous Corporate Membership could apply for Life Membership. Those who failed to pay the membership for the final two-year period of the required period, will be given the opportunity to pay the arrears. Membership Fee: Rs. 10,000.00. (This could be paid in two equal installments within six months. But Life Membership will be granted only after the completion of the payment).
Before applying for Life Membership, the applicant shall ensure that the eligibility requirements prescribed under the approved Rules and Regulations of the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) have been fulfilled.
Life Membership shall be considered as recognition of long-standing association, continuous membership, and commitment to the objectives and activities of the Association.
An applicant shall demonstrate:
Category 1 – Members with 20 Years of Continuous Membership
A member who has completed twenty (20) years of continuous membership with the Association, subject to verification by the Secretariat, shall be eligible to obtain Life Membership without payment of the Life Membership fee.
Such members shall continue to enjoy the privileges of Life Membership upon approval by the Council.
Category 2 – Members with More Than 10 Years of Continuous Membership
A member who has completed more than ten (10) years of continuous membership may apply for Life Membership by paying fifty percent (50%) of the Life Membership fee prescribed by the Council at the time of application.
The reduced fee concession shall apply only to members who have maintained continuous membership and fulfilled the requirements prescribed by the Association.
Category 3 – Senior Members Recognized under Historical Provisions
Senior members who qualify under special provisions recognized by the Rules of the Association, including those who had demonstrated active participation in SLLA prior to the enactment of the SLLA Act No. 20 of 1974, shall be considered according to the applicable provisions approved by the Association.

Life Membership is a privilege granted in recognition of sustained commitment, continuous membership, and valuable association with SLLA. It shall not automatically arise only from the passage of time; eligibility shall be verified and approved according to the Rules and Regulations of the Association.
